This tutorial will show you how to customize your community's pinned messages, taking full advantage of advanced nest bot features.
It assumes you already understand how to configure the nest bot.
If not, check out the Administrator's Tutorial first.
Let's start with your basic pinned message.
(For the sake of brevity, some of the details at the bottom of the pinned message will be truncated.)
Walnut Creek
Civic Park: Nidoran♂
Heather Farm Park: Luvdisc
Use /unreported to help identify the remaining 3 nests.
There are 3 features that can improve your pinned messages: icons (for size, shiny, or mega evolution), excluding small nests, and channel-specific prefixes.
The first type of icon indicates nest size.
To enable nest size icons, use the /nesticons command.
/nesticons 🥉 5 🥈 15 🥇
The following icons will be displayed with each nest:
🥉 1-4 Pokémon per hour
🥈 5-14 Pokémon per hour
🥇 15 or more Pokémon per hour
The /nesticons command enables size-based icons for your entire community.
You specify the icons to use, the number of size categories, and also the size of each category.
All sizes are defined by the average number of nest Pokémon per hour that can be found in a nest.
In the above example we've specified 3 categories, each with their own icon.
The first icon (the bronze medal 🥉) is used for the smallest nests.
The middle icon (the silver medal 🥈) is used for nests with 5 or more Pokémon per hour.
The last icon (the gold medal 🥇) is used for nests with 15 or more Pokémon per hour.
(See the manual for additional examples of icons to use.)
/nestsize brazil quarry 3Brazil Quarry Park nest spawns approximately 3 Pokémon per hour./nestsize newhall 17Newhall Park nest spawns approximately 17 Pokémon per hour.
Now the bot needs to know how big each of your nests is.
Use the /nestsize command for each nest to specify the average number of Pokémon per hour that can be found at that nest.
This doesn't need to be an exact number (in fact, it can't be), so just use a number that makes sense to your community.
If the nest is difficult to access by foot (for example, a mountain), consider decreasing the size to represent what people can actually catch, instead of the number that they can see on the in-game radar.
Use /unreported to help identify the remaining 3 nests.

🥉 1-4 per hour
🥈 5-14 per hour
🥇 15 or more per hour
The pinned message now contains size icons for each nest.
Also, there is a key at the bottom describing each icon.
/shinyicons ✨ 🌟
The following icons will be displayed for shiny nests:
Shiny: ✨
Boosted Shiny: 🌟
The /shinyicons command displays an icon by nests that contain shiny species.
There are two possible icons.
The first icon is shown by nests with a normal shiny rate (approximately 1:500).
The second icon is shown by nests with a boosted shiny rate (approximately 1:60 or better).
In the above example the ✨ icon will be displayed next to normal shiny nests,
and the 🌟 icon will be displayed next to boosted shiny nests.
(See the manual for additional examples of icons to use.)
Use /unreported to help identify the remaining 3 nests.

💥 Mega Evolution
The pinned message now contains mega evolution icons for each nest.
Next, we will look at some other features besides icons.
Use /unreported to help identify the remaining 3 nests.

The /pin command has the ability to show fewer nests.
Use an optional "minimum size" parameter to exclude nests that are too small.
The final feature that can be added to pinned messages is a text prefix.
Sometimes you might want to add additional information to the nest bot's pinned message.
For example, maybe you want to link to your community's guidelines.
Or maybe you want to link to some different Telegram groups.
To add this text, let's go over to the Telegram group that contains an existing nest bot pinned message.
My Pokémon GO Community 735 members/pinprefix
Welcome to Diablo Valley Pokémon GO!

The following prefix will appear before the bot-generated pinned message:
Welcome to Diablo Valley Pokémon GO!

The /pinprefix command will prepend any text you give it to the auto-generated pinned message in the current Telegram group.
This means each group can have a different prefix.
That might be useful if each group has its own rules or instructions.
All the text must be included in the same message as the /pinprefix command.
To include multiple lines, hold the Shift key down when pressing Enter.

As before, we use the "5" parameter to exclude nests smaller than 5 Pokémon per hour.
This time, notice that the pinned message includes our custom prefix.
Everytime the pinned message is updated, it will include this prefix.
We did not need to use the /nesticons command again, because the icons are shared across your entire community.
Now you can customize your pinned messages like a pro!
Feel free to experiment with different icons, different sizes, and different prefixes.
We hope the nest bot is useful for you and your community!
